Hosting agreement

Who this is with

This agreement is between you and Author Services LLC, which operates myauthorwebsite.net. Where these terms say "we", they mean Author Services LLC.

What we provide

We design and build a website for your book, and host it. That includes your own web address, a secure certificate, and an admin page where you can change your biography, your book description, your photographs, your retailer links, blog posts and events whenever you like, without asking us.

What it costs

$999 once, for the design and setup. Then hosting: $199 a year, or $19.99 a month. Hosting renews automatically until you cancel it. Prices may change, but never within a period you have already paid for, and we will tell you before a renewal at a new price.

Cancelling

You can cancel hosting at any time from your admin page or by writing to us. Your site stays online until the end of the period you have paid for. We do not refund part of a period, and we do not refund the design fee once the site has been built — by then the work is done.

If a payment fails

We will try again and let you know. Your site keeps working for 10 days. If the payment has not succeeded by then, the site is replaced with a plain holding page rather than deleted. Paying brings it straight back, exactly as it was.

Your work stays yours

Your words, your photographs and your book remain entirely yours. You give us permission to publish them on your site, and nothing more. You can ask us to hand over the site's files or to take it down at any time, and we will.

What we ask of you

That you have the right to everything you give us to publish — your text, your images, your cover — and that what you publish is lawful. If someone tells us in good faith that material on your site infringes their rights, we may take that material down while it is sorted out, and we will tell you when we do.

Keeping it running

We take reasonable care to keep your site online, backed up and secure, and we keep nightly backups. We do not promise it will never be unavailable: no host can. If something breaks, we fix it as quickly as we reasonably can.

Ending it from our side

We may stop hosting a site that breaks these terms, or that we are required to remove. Except where we are obliged to act immediately, we will tell you first and give you your files. If we end hosting for any other reason, we refund the unused part of what you paid.

The limit of what we owe

If something goes wrong and it is our fault, what we owe you is limited to the amount you have paid us in the twelve months before. We are not liable for lost sales or lost royalties. Nothing here limits anything that cannot lawfully be limited.

Changes to these terms

If we change them we will publish the new version and tell you before it applies to you. You signed version 2026-09-14, and that is the version that governs your agreement until you agree to another.
